Tree Research

Development Site Surveys

Tree Research provides full support throughout the planning process - All planning applications that involve trees situated within or in close proximity to (e.g overhanging the boundary) require a tree survey and report in accordance with BS5837: 2005 Trees in relation to construction - recommendations.

BS5837 provides recommendations and guidance for all parties interested in harmony between trees and development, from deciding which trees are appropriate for retention, the means for protecting these trees during all stages of the development process and the means of incorporating new trees into the developed landscape. The British Standard forms the basis for all tree linked planning applications.

Tree Research can support the planning process from the initial pre design phase, providing a tree survey, report and constraints plan (TCP) from which the proposed design layout can develop.

Following the finalised layout, Tree Research will provide an Arboricultural Implications Assessment (AIA) and tree protection plan (TPP), identifying trees to be removed, retained, tree protection measures and any new planting proposals, a preliminary method statement can then be included in this report, the final method statement being produced following satisfying relevant planning conditions and receipt of full planning permission.
